The London Irish Centre supports thousands of people each year experiencing loneliness, isolation, crisis, or extreme poverty. This year, ten incredible runners are taking on the Royal Parks Half Marathon to raise vital funds supporting this work.

Story

🏃‍♀️ 13.1 miles, 5 weeks to train… and a cause very close to my heart ❤️

On 11th October, I’m taking on a challenge I was asked to take part in with just five weeks to go, and having never been a regular runner, I’ve spent the last few weeks wondering whether this was a brilliant idea or a slightly crazy one! But there was a reason I said yes.

I’m raising money for the London Irish Centre. When my family moved from Dublin to London, we were incredibly fortunate to receive support as we settled into a new life. My sisters and I were the first in our family to go to university, and we’ve all gone on to build our lives, families and careers in the UK. We’ve been incredibly lucky — and we’ve always believed in giving something back to the communities that have supported us.

The London Irish Centre supports thousands of people every year. And importantly, its work is not just for the Irish community. The Centre supports people from all backgrounds across Camden and beyond, helping people who need a helping hand, a listening ear or simply somewhere they feel welcome.

So, while I may be slightly terrified about getting around those 13.1 miles, I’m really motivated by the thought that every mile might help raise a little more money for people who genuinely need it.

If you can spare £5, £10, £20 — whatever you can afford — I would be incredibly grateful. Every donation, however small, will help the London Irish Centre continue its vital work.

And if you see me looking exhausted on 11th October… please pass me chocolate and a cup of tea !

Thank you so much for your support. ❤️

Wish me luck — I’m going to need it! 🏃‍♀️🍀
