Story

1 More Mad Idea

On Sunday 3rd August Ruth Thompson and Team Muir will be doing a North Yorkshire Half Iron Man with a twist..

2 Sisters

Ruth’s sister Cath was diagnosed with MND 10 years ago and since her diagnosis they have completed a number of challenges together for the MND Association. This challenge involves Cath putting her full trust in Ruth whilst facing her fear of water!

3 Modes of Transport

The first - a 1.5 mile swim at Ellerton Lakes where Ruth will be pulling Cath in a kayak. Not far unless you can’t swim and are scared of water (like Cath is!). Ruth will then set off on a 56 mile cycle with Cath in tow from Ellerton to Eppelby via Catterick Village and Northallerton. They will then finish with a half marathon pushing Cath in her wheelchair in Eppleby Village around Cath’s famous village walk route.

4 MND

Cath is a fundraiser, local group member and campaigner for the MND Association who has raised over £100,000. All funds raised for the Hambleton and Richmondshire Group who support local people with MND, as well as funding research.

5 £5000 target for Doddie Wear who wore number 5

Thank you for reading and your support with this challenge. Together we will keep fighting and banging the drum for MND 🥁 🧡💙

If you would like to join Cath and Ruth for any of this route then please email Cath on cathmuir760@gmail.com.
