1st Prestwood Brownies will be completing a sponsored two-mile walk around the village to raise vital funds in aid of Roald Dahl's Marvellous Children's Charity.

The walk will take place on Sunday 3rd November 2024 between 10:30am and 12:00pm.

The Brownies have worked very hard to plan the route, promote the walk and ask their friends and family for sponsorship pledges. Keep an eye out for our posters around the village!

We hope that we will see lots of people as we complete the walk. Please say hello or give us a wave from your window if you can. Our route will take us down:

- Honor Road

- The High Street

- Clare Road

- Sixty Acres Road

- Wycombe Road

- Lodge Lane

- Wren Road

- Wright's Lane

- Gryms Dyke

Anything you are able to give will make a real difference to the children supported by the charity. Our target amount (£250) could pay for one whole day of care from a Roald Dahl Nurse Specialist.

A little bit of background context:

Our girls are spending this term working on their Charities badge. They've taken time to learn about different types of charities and the many ways in which they can be supported. We looked at how most charities will fall under a 'people', 'animal' or 'place' category, and how some can fall under more than one.

Each Brownie researched a charity of their choice at home and then shared their findings with the whole group. After hearing everyone's presentations, the girls voted to raise money in aid of a 'people' charity.

We then held a secret ballot to vote between the 'people' charities that had been researched, and the overwhelming majority voted for Roald Dahl's Marvellous Children's Charity.

Ever since, the girls have been busy planning and preparing for their two-mile walk by writing to local businesses, creating flyers and gaining sponsorship pledges.
