The Allendale CC Appeal for 2025

John Raglan is raising money for Allendale Cricket Club
Allendale Cricket Club was formed in 1946 and is a member of the West Tyne League and the Northumberland and Tyneside cricket league. Because we are the only cricket ground in the area we attract usage from schools Allendale Primary & Whitfield First. The club runs weekly coaching sessions for them.

Story

Our club is in a great position as we look forward to the 2025 season: We have several new players onboard including our Kiwi overseas player Ben Litchfield, junior membership is thriving, the square and other parts of the ground are in very good condition despite the wet couple of years we've endured and we have the largest management committee we've ever seen that is packed with talent and enthusiasm.

That committee is planning the following initiatives for 2025:

A refurbishment by an outside contractor of the 4 practice net lanes which were installed around 10 years ago

Women's and girl's teams led by our new committee member Claire Renwick

An upgrade of the manual scoreboard to an electronic format

New groundcare machinery

Maintenance of, and improvements to, the outfield drainage system

We will, of course, be applying for grant funding for those projects and will be holding our annual pledge auction on 31st May at The Lion House. However, the available grants will not cover the whole cost of those projects and the auction profit is always the bed-rock of the club in terms of covering overheads.

So, we are appealing to members and supporters to make donations in advance of the season in order to cover the shortfall which we currently estimate at £8,000. The club has Community Amateur Sports Club (CASC) status, so all donations may be gift-aided which makes the fund-raising mountain just a little bit easier to climb.

We do, however, recognise that despite covid and other economic challenges being behind us we are still in uncertain economic times so we doubly appreciate any donations you feel able to make to take us to our target.
