Story
As part of Baby Loss Awareness week (BLAW), on 9-15th October, there will be several ribbon displays in Beckenham, including:
- a ribbon display on the main front gates of Beckenham Crematorium
- a ribbon remembrance tree at St Edmund's Church
- a ribbon remembrance tree at Daisy Grey cafe
- a ribbon remembrance tree at Francis Chappell & Sons funeral home
Loss of a baby or pregnancy is heart-breaking, however this is happening to families across the UK everyday. My family is one of those as our first baby, Jacob, was stillborn in 2021. During Baby Loss Awareness Week, we want to create special displays to remember all the baby’s lost and we invite you to join us in remembering yours.
Ribbons displaying the names of the babies being remembered will be added to the Beckenham Baby Loss Awareness Ribbon Displays from the 9th October and will remain in place until the 15th.
If you would like me to add a ribbon to the displays on your behalf, then please add your baby's name, significant date and colour of ribbon in the message and I will be honoured to make a ribbon and add their name to the display.
Ribbon displays create a space for us to honour and remember our babies while also raising awareness in the community about our desire to open up conversations around baby loss. Personally, when I see a ribbon display, supportive poster in a shop window or blue and pink lights during BLAW, it means the world to me. It acknowledges our babies who are not here, affirms that they existed, and recognises their humanity, which is incredibly important for us bereaved parents who often feel our children are forgotten.
Beckenham Crematorium are also holding a remembrance baby service during baby loss awareness week. Details will be added soon.
All monies raised will go to Sands, who work to save babies' lives through vital research and support bereaved families.
Thank you 💜🧡
