Road Victims Trust support of road victims is provided by a team of highly skilled counselling volunteers and staff. The principles and ethos of the RVT reflect a primary and compelling aspiration to provide personal support to all those affected by the trauma caused by serious road collisions.

Story

Some of you will know that on 24th May 2024, we tragically lost my dad, Nigel Woodhead, who was killed in a road collision whilst cycling.

My dad was an incredible person. Losing him so suddenly has been devastating, and life without him is a challenge me and my family continue to navigate every day.

During this time, the Road Victims’ Trust charity has been an amazing source of support, offering us free counselling to help us through our grief. Their support has made a real difference, and I want to help ensure they can continue to be there for others facing similar loss.

Therefore, on Sunday 26th July 2026, I will be completing an Olympic distance triathlon to raise money for this incredible charity. This will be my first Triathlon and includes a 1,500m open water swim in the Docklands, followed by a 40km bike ride and a 10km run across London.

Triathlon sports were my dad’s passion. In his younger years, he competed regularly and even ranked first in his age category at the Windsor Triathlon in 2001. He continued to love the triathlon sports into his later life and even completed the Pennine Cycleway, a 550km cycle just the week before his death. Taking on this challenge feels like a meaningful way to honour him and stay connected to something he loved so much.

If you’re able to donate, no matter how big or small, it would mean so much — not just to me, but to other families and victims of road collisions who need support during the hardest moments in their lives.
