A group of women from all over the uk have come together to host a charity 24 hour live stream diamond art challenge over on TikTok taking place from 10am Saturday 28th September 2024 to 10am Sunday 29th September 2024.

Within the group, the lead organisers have chosen 3 charities that are close to our hearts. As one of these 3, I have chosen Malvern Day Care associated with Friends Of The Elderly Charity. The Lodge is located in Malvern, Worcestershire.

I have chosen this Day Care because my Nan, who has dementia, attends a group at the Lodge a few times a week. She absolutely loves her time there and has found a new lease of life after so many other aspects of her life have declined over the past few years.

One of my Aunts has taken the role of carer for my Nan, alongside my mother and other aunty trying to help out as much as possible. This group not only gives my Nan something to look forward to, it also gives my family a much needed rest. Looking after my Nan has become a 24/7 requirement. Taking care of elderly with dementia can be challenging even for those that do this as a job. The challenge increases significantly when the person you are caring for is your own family.

Places like this one rely on help from community donations to be able to provide more for the people that use this service. I have set a goal of £500 that will fund a new sturdy, weather resistant outdoor gazebo for the Lodge. This then provides the clients the option to spend time outside when the weather is nice or even just to get some fresh air. The one they currently have is in desperate need of an upgrade. Currently just a little bit too much wind means staff have to rush to take it down before it gets blown away. With a new gazebo, clients, like my Nan, can enjoy a shady spot on sunny days, a shelter on rainy days and all in all, give them access to the outdoors all year round.

Anything you can spare as a donation is extremely appreciated. Please help me give back and provide a little more quality of life to those that may not have much time left with us. It is heart breaking to think that the time my Nan has left is limited but also going to be extremely challenging. I want to do anything I can to make that time a little better. But also to help the other clients that rely on places such as Malvern Day Care and those who will need it in future.
