Story
Thank you for taking the time to visit this page.
As a student nurse, I recently completed a placement in the Intensive Care Unit at Midland Metropolitan University Hospital. It was one of the most powerful and humbling experiences of my training.
ICU is where the most critically ill and vulnerable patients are cared for. It is where people arrive at their most fragile, they are often unconscious, ventilated or fighting for their lives. It is where families stand outside rooms holding onto hope, waiting for updates, praying for their loved ones, praying for one more chance.
As a community, we should remember, every bed space is a person, a parent, a child, a partner, a story.
During my placement in the ICU , I witnessed extraordinary empathy, compassion, strength, and teamwork. Not only in caring for patients, but also in supporting families through some of the hardest and scariest moments of their lives.
This 24-hour bike ride symbolises the 24-hour care ICU staff provide every single day of the year.
Funds raised will contribute towards further enhancing patient care and supporting staff wellbeing within the ICU.
If you are able to donate, you are helping support both the patients fighting their hardest battles and the dedicated professionals who refuse to give up on us.
Thank you for being part of this.
Together we can be stronger and look after each other.
