Story

24 Hours in Their Shoes: A Walk, Wheel & Silence Challenge

On 21st and 22nd August, Carl and Roger will be taking on an extraordinary 24-hour challenge, split across two 12-hour days in support of The Knights Foundation as they celebrate their 10th anniversary.

For the past decade, The Knights Foundation has been making a real difference to the lives of children and young adults who are severely ill or living with disabilities. They provide specialist equipment, sensory experiences and days out, respite holidays, and access to their fully accessible lodge in the New Forest, creating opportunities and memories for families who face challenges every day.

To help raise awareness and vital funds for this incredible charity, Carl and Roger are taking on "24 Hours in Their Shoes" – a physically and mentally demanding challenge designed to highlight some of the unseen struggles experienced by those living with disabilities.

For 24 continuous hours, they will complete a 2-mile loop over and over again. However, each loop will be undertaken differently:

One loop walking, recognising that not all disabilities are visible.

The next loop using crutches and knee braces.

The following loop in a manual wheelchair.

This cycle will be repeated continuously for the full 24 hours.

Adding to the challenge, the entire event will be completed in silence. This represents the silent struggles, barriers, and challenges that many people with disabilities face every single day—often unseen, unheard, and misunderstood.

Both Carl and Roger come from military backgrounds and understand the importance of resilience, determination, and supporting others. For Carl, this challenge is particularly personal, as he is currently recovering from two recent knee operations, making this event an even greater test of both physical and mental strength.

This challenge is about more than endurance. It's about raising awareness, showing support, and helping The Knights Foundation continue their amazing work for children, young adults, and families who rely on their services.

Every donation, no matter how big or small, will make a difference and help The Knights Foundation continue changing lives.

Please support Carl and Roger if you can as they take on this incredible challenge for an amazing charity.

Thank you for your support.
