About the event
After the success of last year’s 24-hour row challenge, which raised £1,935 for Ysgol Hen Felin, the boys are back at it again.
On April 11th Adam, Steff, Sean and Owen will be setting off for 24 hours on the ski erg at Initiate Strength and Conditioning.
With no official world record for a four-man team posted (I’ve checked on ChatGPT) they aim to ski as far as possible and claim that title unofficially, with the view of over 300km skied across the timespan, with one of the four on the ski erg at all times.
The team will be setting off about 1pm on Saturday, April 11th to finish at the same time on Sunday, April 12th.
All money raised with be donated to the British Heart Foundation so thank you in advance to anyone who donates!
About the charity
Every 3 minutes, someone in the UK dies from cardiovascular disease. The British Heart Foundation (BHF) is the biggest independent funder of research into cardiovascular disease in the UK. With one of the team having recently lost a close family member to a heart issue we are keen to help the BHF’s ambition of powering the next breakthroughs in diagnosing, treating, and preventing the world’s biggest killer.
About the team

Adam Newman is the self-appointed front man of the team, who knows all the lingo as he goes on a skiing holiday once a year with friends. He claims this will be an easy challenge, or as he says “this will be rad.” He wears this full kit around the house and shouts kawabunga every time he gets down from his bunkebed in the morning. He also said if we pass £5,000 raised he’ll shave that terrible haircut.

Boditronics sponsored athlete Steffan Rees is ranked 5th in the team of 4s best skiers. He has been preparing for the challenge by fetching cream eggs for his boss Minton in ice cold conditions, readying his body for those early hours on the erg…...P.S Did he tell you he is a Boditronics sponsored athlete?

After last year’s 24-hour row Sean Cutler was a broken man. His hands have only recently come back to life after being out of action for about 6 months post challenge, leading him to only be able to banded pull aparts. Since his full recovery he now specialises in….well banded pull aparts. With a wingspan of 11ft the man known around Porth as “the orangutang” is expecting to make up for the smaller stature of his colleagues.

63-year-old Owen Hathway brings the wisdom, life experience and limited joint movement to the squad. A veteran of having no friends and spending hours on the erg, this challenge is a way to force younger people to spend time with him as his kids have increasingly got board of his company.
