Story
As a passionate advocate for the well-being of young carers, I am excited to take on the challenge of swimming 24 miles in 24 hours to support a local charity very close to my heart, MYTIME. MYTIME is a remarkable charity dedicated to providing vital support and respite to these remarkable young individuals.
I know firsthand the immense sacrifices young carers make to care for their loved ones, often putting their own needs and well-being on the backburner.
Research shows that as many as one in five children and young people are young carers. There are around 800,000 young carers aged 11-16 in England alone. There are an estimated 1 million young carers across the UK.
By taking on this challenge, I hope to raise awareness and funds for MYTIME's incredible work, which not only provides emotional support but also offers a much-needed break from young carers responsibilities.
The solo 24-mile swim will be a physically demanding challenge, but it's a small price to pay compared to the tireless efforts these young heroes make every day. By pushing my body to its limits, I hope to inspire others to do the same and join me in supporting MYTIME's mission to empower young carers to thrive.
