Story
Our beautiful Fiona was sadly diagnosed with MND back in August 2023. The disease caused Fiona to slowly and painfully deteriorate before passing away on February 13th this year. It was heartbreaking to lose her after watching someone you love go through this nightmare. She was in constant pain and completely reliant on Amber and I and some amazing friends, family and carers. You are all wonderful and I thank you all from the bottom of my heart. Her incredible strength and positivity throughout this heartbreaking time has inspired me and others to try and help the MND community. On the 14th of April 2024 myself and two good friends Leo and Dooky, managed to complete the Manchester marathon. We raised approximately £15000. Since then Fiona and I have been blown away with not only the generous donations, but more so the amount of people taking time out of their own busy schedules to raise money and awareness in their own fundraising challenges. Friends who have never run up their own stairs have completed 10k runs. Friends doing open water swimming, half marathons, 10k runs, even teddy tombolas in our local Tesco. Our amazing friend Leo has now completed Manchester Marathon 2024,25 and Edinburgh 2025. Fiona’s nephew Conor has cycled from Lands End to John o' Groats this year with very little training. We have had our local pub doing race nights and darts competitions. Even our own little baby Amber has done a couple of fundraisers.
So....l've had a year off. I thought I best get my fat arse back on the tarmac. I wanted to try and do a bit more than a marathon, and then the stars aligned. Myself and my amazing friend Leo Baker are attempting the ridiculous. These 2 bald middle aged men have signed up to Paris, Manchester and London marathons . To add to the jeopardy the 3 events are in consecutive weeks. Yes, 3 marathons in 3 weeks! We are going to have a weeks rest then do the Leeds MND marathon in memory of the inspiring Rob Burrows. We also have Elliott Morley joining us for the Paris marathon. Our page is a joint fundraising page and we ask you from the bottom of our hearts to dig deep. This horrific disease needs a cure. The work of the Motor Neurone Disease Association helps so many and funds research.
Love
Paul, Leo and most importantly Fiona. X
