3 Peaks Challenge · 10 August 2024

We support thousands of people living with terminal illnesses & their families, in our three hospices, via our patient & family support services, and in the community through Myton at Home. We need to raise £12.7 million this year to provide our services free of charge – we can’t do it without you!

Story

We’re taking on the 3 Peaks Challenge to raise money in memory of our much loved and missed friend Calan to mark one year since his passing. We’re raising money for The Myton Hospices who supported Calan and his family in the most unimaginably difficult circumstances. You can read more about Calan's story and the circumstances they were faced with here: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-coventry-warwickshire-66776382

Calan told us he wanted to climb Ben Nevis for his birthday last year which is the inspiration for our challenge. In the spirit of adventure (which Calan had in abundance) we’re upping the stakes and climbing the highest three peaks in the UK in 24 hours (hopefully). That’s 23 miles of climbing, a combined 10,052 feet ascent and 462 miles of driving.

Neither of us are physically or mentally prepared for this (yet) so please give what you can - we need every ounce of motivation!

We all met working at Kisaco Research where Calan remains a legend and is massively missed every day. A huge thank you to Kisaco Research for sponsoring us and making sure we don't get stranded on the side of a mountain/ motorway.

Calan's ambition, enthusiasm and determination made him a formidable colleague and his kindness, good humour and easy affection made him an incredible friend. He'd be buzzing about this challenge and we know he'll be with us every step of the way.

We appreciate every single donation. Knowing that The Myton Hospices exist and provide as much comfort as possible to people when they need it most is humbling and we’re forever in awe of the work they do.

About The Myton Hospices

At The Myton Hospices we believe that everyone matters for every single moment of their life; we focus on enhancing life when cure is no longer an option. We are leaders in compassionate end of life care; our work centres on our patients and involving them in decisions about their care. Perhaps most importantly we give them more quality time with their loved ones.

Last year, we supported almost 2,000 people and their families, in our hospices, via our patient & family support services, and in the community through Myton at Home.
