Story
Hey Guys,
We’re running the London Marathon for Silver Star 💙
In April 2027, Luke, Eddie and I will be taking on the London Marathon together, raising money for the Silver Star Maternity Fund at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford.
This is a cause incredibly close to our hearts.
When Luke and I welcomed our son Hux into the world, things didn’t go to plan. I won’t share all the gory details, but in a nutshell, Hux spent his first few weeks in the neonatal intensive care and high dependency units at the John Radcliffe Hospital, where the care we received was nothing short of incredible.
It was a pretty terrifying start to becoming parents and a world we never expected to find ourselves in. During one of the hardest times of our lives, the maternity and neonatal teams not only gave Hux the most incredible care, but looked after us too. The reassurance, kindness and expertise we experienced during those weeks is something we’ll never forget.
When we left hospital, we tried to take cards and gifts back for everyone who had made such a difference to us. But with so many different people involved in Hux’s care, we never got the chance to thank every one of them individually, face to face. To this day, that still makes us sad. There are people who probably have no idea just how much their kindness, reassurance or care meant to us in those moments, or the difference they made to our family. They really were our heroes, and we will always be incredibly grateful.
That experience will stay with us forever. It gave us a real appreciation not only for the incredible people working within maternity and neonatal care, but for the families finding themselves in that world every day and just how much the care and support they receive matters.
The Silver Star Maternity Fund supports maternity and neonatal care at the John Radcliffe, helping to fund specialist equipment, better facilities for families and the little extras that can make an enormous difference when you find yourself there.
Just two weeks after Hux came home from hospital, we opened the doors to Train 3:05, our gym built around community, shared experiences and a love of challenging yourself through fitness.
The three of us have trained together for years, so taking on the London Marathon together to give something back felt like the perfect challenge. And if, in the process, we can bring our community together through a shared love of fitness, get as many people as possible involved in the challenges we have planned and raise a huge amount of money for an incredible cause, even better. Whether you’re part of Train 3:05 or not, we’d love you to be part of it.
So, in April, we’ll be taking on 26.2 miles around London together, and we’d love to have as many of you as possible along for the journey.
Every donation, no matter how big or small, will help support other families receiving the same incredible care that meant so much to ours.
Thank you so much for your support, whether you donate, get involved in one of our fundraising challenges, share our page or cheer us on. It really does mean the world!
Love,
Cam, Luke & Eddie
xXx
