As some of you know I'm currently trying to walk 1000 miles in 2026 as a personal challenge and to aid my health & fitness as I approach my 40th birthday in September.

One goal I've had in mind for many years is to walk from Chester to my parents' house in Lowton - approximately 30 miles away. This year seems like the perfect opportunity to give this a go and on the way I'd like to raise £400 to help fund a brand new clubhouse for our local football club, Saughall Colts JFC, who need to raise £25k before they can start the build.

Both of my daughters play for this wonderful club and I've also been lucky enough to been given the opportunity to coach both their teams. It's a cause that is close to our hearts as a family and one I feel worthy of my efforts as I embark on this mammoth trek!

I'll be doing the walk on Sunday morning 21st June 2026, the Summer Solstice. I'll be setting off at first light (4am ish) and the walk will take me approximately 10 hours. This gives me a few months to get in shape, lose a couple of stone and be ready because I'm under no illusions that this will be a tough ask, and a huge battle both physically and mentally.
