Story
I've watched over the last few years the impact that suicide can have on the people around them - the families, the friends, the colleagues. This kind of loss leaves a mark on everyone.
Christmas is supposed to be a time for joy, a time to celebrate with family and loved ones, but for too many it's the loneliest time of the year. When you're struggling, the pressure to be happy can make everything worse.
Running won't fix everything but I believe it helps. It clears your head when you feel overwhelmed. It builds mental toughness. It gives you something to work towards when you need direction.
So from December 1st to Christmas Day. I'm running 325 kilometres in 25 days. Day 1: 1km. Day 2: 2km. All the way to Day 25: 25km on Christmas morning
Every pound raised will go to CALM (Campaign Against Living Miserably), a suicide prevention charity. They offer a life-saving helpline for people who can’t see a way forward, have lost someone to suicide, or are worried about their friends or loved ones.£12.20 is enough to fund one potentially life-saving call. Help fund 100 potentially life-saving calls this Christmas.
The challenge will be hard. Asking for help is harder. Let's make both a bit easier this Christmas.
Thank you for your support.
