Story

My name is Oliver Martin, I’m 29 years old and live in Reading, Berkshire. This year, on Saturday 12th September, I’m taking on the National 3 Peaks Challenge to raise money for Help for Heroes — a charity that provides vital support to veterans and serving personnel who have suffered physical and mental injuries while serving our country.

The challenge involves climbing the three highest mountains in Scotland, England, and Wales — Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike, and Snowdon — all within 24 hours. It’s a huge physical and mental test, but one I’m excited to undertake for such an important cause.

I wanted to take on this fundraiser because I have enormous respect for the sacrifices made by our armed forces community. Many veterans face ongoing challenges long after their service ends, and charities like Help for Heroes play a crucial role in helping them rebuild their lives, access recovery support, and regain independence.

Personally, I wanted to push myself outside my comfort zone and do something meaningful that combines endurance, determination, and giving back. Knowing that every donation can help support wounded veterans and their families is a massive motivation for me throughout the training and the challenge itself.

Any support, donation, or encouragement would be hugely appreciated and will help make a real difference.

Thank you.
