Story
On May 22nd, 2026, I will be trading my usual "Autism Dad" duties for a pair of hiking boots to attempt the National 3 Peaks Challenge.
The Mission: I am leading a team to climb the highest mountains in Scotland (Ben Nevis), England (Scafell Pike), and Wales (Snowdon) in just 24 hours. That means 3,000m of climbing, 462 miles of driving, and zero sleep.
The "Why" – It’s Personal: I am doing this for St Nicholas Special School, but more importantly, I am doing it for children like my own. As a father to three children with complex needs, including Autism, Pica, and Sensory Processing Disorder. I know that a standard playground often isn't safe or accessible.
For children with Pica (who may eat non-food items) or sensory struggles, a playground isn't just for "fun." It is a vital outdoor classroom for regulation, physical therapy, and safety. Right now, the school's facilities are tired and need a massive upgrade.
My children face mountains every single day just navigating the world. The least I can do is climb three real ones to help build them a safe space to play.
Transparency on Funds: To ensure the safety of our team on this grueling challenge, we have hired professional guides. Please note that a small portion of funds raised will go towards these essential event costs, but the vast majority goes directly to the St Nicholas School project.
My target is £1,000. Please donate to support this amazing cause (and pity my poor feet!).
Thank you!
