Story
On 13/14 June 2026, a small group of us comprising me, Gav Bacon and Emily Fowler will be attempting to do the national 3 peaks challenge - climbing Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon within 24 hours - in memory of my brother, Paul, and to raise funds for The Paul Cooper Fund in the Brain Tumour Charity. I wanted to do this challenge as we will, quite literally, be following in Paul’s footsteps. He successfully completed the challenge a number of years ago, by all accounts scampering up and down like a mountain goat. I highly doubt I’ll be doing that!
To maximise the amount raised for The Paul Cooper Fund, we are doing this ourselves rather than joining one of the organised events. Rachel Spencer and Tracy Smith will be driving us between the peaks and generally acting as our support crew. Al Outhwaite and family will be joining us to guide us up Scafell Pike.
It is very hard to believe that it has been over five years since we lost Paul. It is also hard to see how little progress there has been in effective treatment for the hideous disease that is glioblastoma. The only way that any progress will be made is by research . All monies raised for The Paul Cooper Fund go to fund that research. We really hope that, one day, glioblastoma sufferers aren’t handed a death sentence on diagnosis as Paul was.
Any donations would be very gratefully received.
