Story
We’re taking on the 3 Peaks for Theo 💪🏔️
We are a group of mums and friends, including Theo’s mum, coming together to take on the National 3 Peaks Challenge — climbing the highest mountains in Scotland, England and Wales: Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon — all to raise money and awareness for Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA).
Theo is an incredible little boy living with SMA Type 1 (Spinal Muscular Atrophy), a rare genetic condition that affects muscle strength and movement. SMA can make everyday things that many of us take for granted — sitting, standing, walking, even breathing — incredibly challenging.
Theo shows strength and determination every single day, and we want to do something BIG to support him.
💙 Why we’re fundraising
Theo requires weekly private physiotherapy and hydrotherapy to help develop and maintain muscle strength, mobility, comfort and independence
To support the costs of specialist equipment required to support Theo's daily life, posture, movement and development - as Theo grows, this equipment needs to be regularly updated or replaced, which brings significant ongoing costs.
To raise awareness of SMA and the impact it has on children such as Theo and their loved ones
Unfortunately, most of this vital therapy and equipment is not covered by the NHS, meaning the financial pressure on families such as Theo's can be huge
The 3 Peaks Challenge is going to push us physically and mentally — long hours, steep climbs, tired legs and very little sleep. The goal is to complete these highest mountains in each country of the UK all within 24 hours: this will be tough - but it is nothing compared to what children like Theo face daily.
Please get behind us; Laura, Laura, Leah, Amie, Jo, Kate, Emma, Nat, Suzi, Alex, Ally and Alix, as we start our training on the build up to this huge challenge.
Thank you so much for your support — it truly means the world to us and to Theo 💙
