We are raising money in memory of my Grandpa, James Davies, who lived his last 2 weeks of life incredibly well at Compton Care hospice.

My Grandpa was taken ill suddenly and we were told he was end of life with only a few days to live. He was offered a place at Compton Care to live those last few days in a place devoted to help make them the best they could be.

He was supported to live for the next 2 weeks, down to the unbelievable staff and facilities offered at Compton Care. He spent 14 days looking at the sky, beautiful gardens and wildlife, and could eat and drink whatever he wanted. He was cared for flawlessly by the experienced staff at a time when he was so poorly, sometimes scared and tearful, in pain and struggled to cope with basic functions. As a family, we were comforted because we knew he was in the safest of hands and this made a hugely upsetting time so much easier to manage. The services offered by Compton Care did not finish after my Grandpa passed as all of my family were offered bereavement support.

We are therefore raising money for Compton Care so other families in similar situations can continue to receive care from such an incredible facility.

Tom and I will be hiking Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike, the Yorkshire 3 peaks (Whernside, Ingleborough, Pen-y-ghent), Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) twice, Penygader (Cadair Idris) and Pen-y-fan. We will aim to start at 5pm on Wednesday 5th June 2024 and finish on Saturday 8th June 2024 at 2pm, in an attempt to achieve climbing the National, Yorkshire and Welsh 3 peaks in 72 hours.

We will definitely require some training beforehand and encourage anyone to join us for the training walks or even to do a peak (or two) during the challenge!
