Running 48 Miles For Mental Health Support through Mind Northamptonshire!

4 miles every 4 hours for 48 hours · 27 March 2026

We promote and support good mental health within the areas of Northampton, Corby, Daventry, East Northants, Rushden, South Northants, and Wellingborough through the provision of a range of services which promote individual progression, recovery, and campaign for better mental health for all.

Story

On March 27th, 28th and 29th I’m running 48 miles over one weekend to raise money for Mind Northamptonshire. It’s split up into 12 individual 4 miles runs spaced apart by 4 hours each. It’s gonna be tough.

But that’s kind of the point. We want to test our physical fitness and our mental endurance at the same time.

Let’s put to test all of the things that we have learned through yoga and fitness and get through something incredibly challenging together at the same time raising money for our local mental health support networks.

Why Mind Northamptonshire? Personally I know that yoga, fitness and exercise can have a massive impact on mental health. But it has its limitations.

Where do you go in when you have a metal health scare? Who do you get support from? What do you do if you have to look after somebody who has a mental health illness? Who has good advice? What’s the solution? I have spent a long time trying to figure this and I don’t really have a proper answer. I found yoga, martial arts, fitness and sport which have been incredibly helpful to me and the people I care about but everyone needs to find their style of help and community that works for them.

There are people who are really on the front line of this. People who are really doing the work that you and I don’t see. It’s happening in the form of community meet ups, crisis teams, local charities that are collaborating with the NHS in times of real need. Offering counselling and ongoing support for anyone who needs it.

We just don’t hear about it.

It’s not social media sexy.

Mind Northamptonshire are doing that work in our town.

If anything embarking on this challenge has shown me how much we all need ach other as a community. I can’t do the work that mind do but I can use my experience as a yoga teacher and fitness coach to raise money to help them continue their work.

And at the same time bring our local community together on this. Offering free yoga on the event weekend (at BST MMA academy and 360 Wellness) and free community 5k runs throughout the whole training camp every Sunday 12:00.
