Story

On the 28th and 29th of September, 4Com staff will be taking part in 4Com’s 24-Hour Moveathon to raise money for a local charity, Action For Children's Dorset Nightstop.

Over the course of the 24 hours, there will be a range of activities such as pilates, yoga, boxing, walks and swimming as part of the Moveathon. The aim of the 24-Hour Moveathon is to have a person or groups of people from across the company constantly taking part in some form of physical activity for 24 hours, including a team in our offices throughout the night!

Dorset Nightstop are the charity chosen by 4Com to be our 2023 Charity Partner and will receive at least £30,000 from the Moveathon!

Here is more information about Dorset Nightstop and what they do:

Dorset Nightstop provides young homeless people aged 16-25 with emergency short-term shelter, through a network of vetted volunteer hosts. The charity work with referrers and housing providers to make sure that no young person in Dorset has to sleep rough. The hosts give a young person a place to sleep, a hot meal and shower, and emotional support during this trying time in their life. At the same time Nightstop staff work with young people to better understand the causes of their sleeping rough and find ways they might be able to get long-term, secure accommodation. The charity also support young people to access work or college/school, and other key appointments, eg housing assessments, benefit meetings, health appointments.

With the money raised by 4Com, Dorset Nightstop have pledged to provide 8 emergency 4Com safe spaces/ accommodation, hosted and maintained for 12 months. These safe spaces will provide 350 safe nights per year to young people (aged 16-25) who are homeless or at risk of being homeless in Dorset.
