5 half-marathons across 5 countries in 1 day (the 5-5-1 challenge) · 8 December 2023

Acorns supports more than 800 children and over 1,100 families every year. The charity needs to raise £14 million each year to provide its care services across hospices and community settings. Your support means Acorns can continue to be there for local families facing the unimaginable.

Story

The 5-5-1 challenge!

Run 5 half-marathons, across 5 countries (Wales, England, Scotland, N. Ireland, Republic of Ireland) in 1 day (yes, your reading it right - just 24hrs incl. travel).

Clock will start at 7pm Fri 8th Dec at Wrexham football ground with runners finishing the 5th half-marathon in Dublin by 7pm Sat 9th Dec.

Why are we doing this?

To raise funds and awareness for the incredibly important Acorn's Children's Hospice. Sadly my baby niece became ill and passed-away in Sept leaving a huge hole in our hearts. The weeks leading to this, as you can imagine, were traumatic for my sister and brother-in-law as well as family and friends. But Acorn's hospice made the toughest of times somehow bearable, giving the space, the care, the comfort and above all the loving environment that Thea and her family could experience during her last weeks. Acorn's helped provide the memories that Thea's mummy, daddy and older brother deserved and can cherish as their lives continue. It is hard to put into words just how eternally grateful we are for the support that Acorn's gave.

No doubt, completing the '5-5-1 challenge' will be tough, but compared to the challenges many children and families face each day we hope we can help the trust - that gives so much but asks for so little - to keep on supporting other families in-need.
