Story
Jim Gannon raising money for Menphys.
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Having been involved in Oadby Community matters for a number of years, I am aware of the amazing work being undertaken by the Menphys Community Hub based in South Wigston in relation to supporting Children and Young people with disabilities and their efforts to ensure they have equal choices and opportunities to live ordinary lives.
Whilst most children and young people do not have to face such challenges in their everyday life, once you gain some personal experiences of how this may affect a family, it highlights even more so some of the daily challenges being faced together with the adjustments needed.
My wife Jane and I became more aware of this when young friends of ours five years ago welcomed a new addition into their family, a baby girl called Amarah, who was born Down syndrome, but this has not deterred her from trying to do everything both her sisters can do.
Her parents and sisters constantly demonstrate their love in their day to day lives which has helped Amarah to become a shining example of individuality and determination.
In order to help aid the ongoing work of Menphys I have decided to try and raise £2000 by walking. 50 miles whilst I am in Lanzarote between 20th & 29th November 2025.
I will be accompanied by my wife Jane throughout this challenge.
