Story
Firstly a massive Thank You for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
As most of you will know I lost my Dad (Tom Topping) in April 2021 to Myelodysplastic Syndrome (MDS) a form of Blood Cancer.
Last year (2022) I took part in the Belfast City Marathon to help fundraise in his memory. As a family we were blown away by your incredible support raising £12,000 in the process for two fantastic charities.
This year I have challenged myself once again. This time to run 5K a Day for a Year.
Well, I am happy to report that it is so far so good on my effort to date. Despite some challenging weather conditions during the year including snowfall, another baby added to the family, a chest infection that didn't seem to want to go away, a few niggling injuries and just general tiredness due to the rigours of everyday life not to mention running 5K everyday I have decided to release my Fundraising page for the final flourish.
I have just completed Day 295 (Sunday 22nd October) and with 70 Days to go I feel that figure represents a poignant moment to release it out there. Daddy had just turned 70 when he passed away and he spent a total of 70 days in hospital before he died. So with 70 Days to go until I complete the challenge here we are.
As well as another 69 daily 5Ks to complete I am also planning on staging and running in a FINAL 5K EVENT on Sunday 31st December in Lurgan. Our plan is run this event late morning with further details to be confirmed including the 5K route in due course. With my connections at Glenavon Football Club the plan is to start and finish the FINAL 5K EVENT there.
My call to you is can you help out and there’s a few ways in which you can;
The easy one is to Donate what you can across through my JustGiving page. You can do that now! Every donation will help a cause very close to my heart. My chosen charity is Leukaemia & Lymphoma NI - they are the only charity in Northern Ireland dedicated to blood cancer research. Their mission is to improve survival rates and quality of life for all blood cancer patients by supporting clinicians, scientists and students researching these diseases.
The other few options are that you can either Run, Volunteer or Sponsor at the FINAL 5K EVENT. For the runners all we ask is you can commit to a 5K run on the day and you are willing to help fundraise for our chosen charity (a few extra £s will make a big difference). On the day we will also require some additional hands on to help the smooth running of the event and we will be providing some tea/coffee and refreshments at the Club for spectators, runners and supporters with hopefully a Raffle. If your business would like to sponsor a prize in the raffle or help out in anyway that would be fantastic too. If you are interested in helping in anyway please email adamtopping@hotmail.com for more information.
Thank you,
Adam :-)
