Story
On Sunday 20 August, the six of us (Max, Theo, Seb, Alex, Tristan and Jonny) will be swimming up and down the length of Lake Windermere to raise money for CALM. To make the challenge more difficult, we've split into two relay teams of three, with each person swimming for an hour at a time. Both teams will cover approximately 36 KMs (12 KMs per person) over 12+ hours.
The mental health benefits of cold water swimming have been widely publicised and we therefore thought it would be apt to raise money and awareness for Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM). Every week 125 people in the UK take their own lives and 75% of all UK suicides are male. CALM exists to change this by offering life saving services, provoking conversation and bringing people together to reject living miserably.
From advice on their site, through to free, confidential chats with their helpline staff, online or on the phone, they're there for whoever needs them, every day. No matter what.
Any little you can give would make a big difference, not only for a great cause but also in helping our morale when no doubt we're cold and wet in the middle of a lake.
