Daniel Oriakhi is raising money for The Air League

The Air League is the UK’s leading aviation and aerospace charity with a vision focused on changing lives through aviation. It breaks down the barriers into these industries through its scholarships and outreach programmes. Each year thousands of individuals benefit from Air League support.

Story

The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. For me, that step was learning to swim.

I'll be taking on a Middle Distance Triathlon (Half Iron distance): 1.9km open water swim, 90km bike and 21km run - to raise funds for the Air League, the UK's leading aviation, aerospace and space charity.

Why?

I started from zero. Couldn't swim. Had never cycled seriously. Built everything from scratch - originally just to meet airline eligibility requirements for water confidence. That journey became something bigger. For context the Half Iron distance for the average person is 10 hours of constant movement across three demanding disciplines, a small representation of how difficult it can be for people - especially young people and veterans - trying to break into aviation, aerospace and space today.

I've seen what changes when someone in this industry stops and says: this is possible for you too. I've been that person on the receiving end. For many young people, the Air League is that moment - through scholarships, skills workshops, school outreach and hands-on experience days that equip young people with the knowledge and confidence to turn aviation, aerospace and space from an abstract career into a real and attainable one.

The goal is £1,000. Enough to fund a portion of a skills workshop or outreach programme, giving young people a genuine first encounter with these industries.

If this resonates, please donate. Every penny goes directly to people who need it most.

Let's see how far we can go.
