Story
For their seventh birthday this year, Charlton and Robson have asked to take on a challenge to raise money for two charities. Charlton would like to raise money for the Sir Bobby Charlton Foundation and Robson has asked to raise money for the Manchester United Foundation. Thankfully having spoken to MU Foundation this is possible using one JustGiving page - so no arguments over who has raised the most!! 🤣
Donations shall be made directly to Manchester United Foundation who will split the total of all donations equally with the Sir Bobby Charlton Foundation.
After lots of deliberation over what the challenge should be, with everything suggested from 500 million laps of a swimming pool (!) to a very tempting weekend-long sponsored silence, the boys eventually agreed on a seven mile walk along the Thames in October half term. We will begin around Imperial Wharf and meander along the river to eventually end at Tower Bridge. Weather depending, we endeavour to do the walk on their 7th birthday - 21st October - which will also rather poignantly be the first anniversary of Sir Bobby’s passing.

Charlton said “I want to do this because I want people to keep remembering how amazing Bobby Charlton was. If you do nice things then you leave a legacy and you live forever. Bobby Charlton was the finest English footballer the world has ever seen - it says so on my scarf - and he was VERY kind. He has made it safer for children to play football in Ukraine and other places where they are warring”.

Robson said “I loved seeing all the Bryan Robson posters last time I went to Old Trafford and learning about how the Manchester United Foundation helps people. Football is my favourite thing and it makes my life better and Manchester United Foundation helps it make other people’s lives better too.”

Thank you so much for reading and considering sponsoring them, the boys are hoping to raise “at least twenty million pounds” (no pressure eh? 😅) but are just extremely excited to be able to help the two charities any way they can on their birthday.
