Story
On May 8th, 2025, the world will commemorate the 80th anniversary of Victory in Europe (VE) Day, a historic occasion that marked the end of World War II in Europe and celebrated the courage, sacrifice, and unity of millions who fought for freedom.
In honour of this milestone, six members from Blandford Garrison will undertake a physical hybrid endurance challenge.
(Cpl Amir Rai, Cpl Biswas Gurung, Cpl Birendra Sanba, Cpl Nalewabau, Cpl Flynn, LCpl Sajan Pun)
Executing 80 Km across all three disciplines:
1. Running
2. Cycling
3. Rowing
All within an 8-hour time-frame and raise funds for Royal Signals Charity. This endeavour symbolises the strength, resilience, and collective effort demonstrated by those who served during the war.
This challenge is not merely a test of physical endurance but a meaningful tribute to the past, a gesture of support for the present, and an inspiration for the future.
The Royal Signals Charity supports Regular, Reserve and Retired (3Rs)Signallers. The Charity provides benevolence grants to those facing distress or hardship and through the enhancement of the ‘lived experience’ which encourages camaraderie across the whole Corps family, promotes Corps ethos and promotes continuous professional development.
By contributing to this cause, you are helping to honour the legacy of all who fought for freedom and ensuring that their sacrifices continue to have a lasting impact.
Together, we can pay tribute to their courage, preserve their stories, and support those who carry on their legacy today. Your support is deeply appreciated.
