Story
At 3 months old my son, Kieran, was diagnosed with a viral encephalitis. He currently has bilateral temporal lobe disease from this virus. We know God performed and is still performing miracles with how well Kieran is developing despite his diagnosis. I feel it's my responsibility now to raise money for encephalitis research! My hope is to have less infants effected by encephalitis each year through increased knowledge of how these viruses spread, medical discoveries, and overall awareness.
My goal is to run 888 miles in 2024, one mile for each hour Kieran spent in the hospital in 2022.
I'm raising funds in support of the Encephalitis International. Registered Charity No. 1087843
Their mission is to increase global awareness of encephalitis, saving lives and building better futures.
Worldwide, a person is diagnosed with encephalitis (brain inflammation) every minute. Caused by infection or by autoimmune diseases, encephalitis strikes children and adults alike with no respect for gender or ethnicity. It is an acutely serious condition with high mortality rates, leaving many who survive with an acquired brain injury which will affect their memory, thinking and personality for the rest of their lives.
