Story
I’m Frankie Stuart and to celebrate my 90th birthday I’m taking on my biggest adventure yet – a charity wing walk to raise money for 42nd Street, a Greater Manchester young people’s mental health charity.
My connection with aviation goes back to when I was 14 years old and joined Girls Venture Corps. I then worked as an assistant at the airfield, where I learnt to fly before I could drive! I was one of the first women to become an air traffic controller and, after raising my family, I returned to regain my Private Pilot Licence at Welsbourne where I continued to be an air traffic controller until I was 85. So, a wing walk feels like a rather fitting way to mark turning 90!
I’ve always liked trying new things and believe that if you can still do something, you should try to do it, because you never know when you might not be able to. I’m looking forward to this adventure and, most importantly, to raising money for such an important cause.
42nd Street provides young people across Greater Manchester with mental health and emotional wellbeing support through a range of young person-led and rights- based services, including one-to-one therapy, group work and creative approaches.
Please support my wing walk and help me raise as much as possible for 42nd Street. Every donation will help the charity continue its work alongside young people.
Thank you for supporting my 90th Birthday adventure!
