Story
Lisa and Paul of Pixel Cove Photography are on their bike!
Starting on the 11th September 2023 we will be cycling 976 miles to raise money for The Bridge (East Midlands).
Why 976 miles we hear you ask!
Findings from a recent report show that in one year alone 976 people lost their lives as a result of being homeless. This was an increase of 33.3% from the previous year.
This number has stuck with us.
We want to help.
We want to raise a lot of money.
We are attempting something that is very much out of our comfort zone in the hope that we can raise this money and in turn help to try and reduce this number.
The Bridge (East Midlands) is a local charity dedicated to preventing and relieving homelessness across Leicestershire and Rutland. It's wide variety of services help vulnerable people in the community to thrive in safe and secure homes.
Our aim is to raise £30,000 for them.
£30,000 could pay for an hour-long session with a specialist Housing Advisor for 1,071 people, each of whom are on the brink of homelessness. So far, in 2022, The Bridge has received over 6,000 referrals for their services.
£30,000 is equivalent to the cost of 30 months-worth (2.5 years) of ground work of one person from their Outreach Team to identify individuals who are sleeping rough.
£30,000 could cover the 10 months cost of their free of charge phone line that is manned by their Triage Team five days a week. This phone line is very often the first point of contact for enquires for people that need help. The team provides initial advice, support and guidance regarding the range of services they deliver, ensuring the most appropriate recommendation is made to reflect an individual's needs.
Anything you can give towards our goal would be hugely appreciated and we hope you can follow us on our journey.
