82 year old Selsey Swimmer Launches 50-Mile Year Long Fundraiser for New Forest For Ukraine ( That's a mile a week).
From Selsey, West Sussex, at 82 years old, Julian “Juls” Lindsey Clark is diving back in for a remarkable cause. In 2026, he will swim 50 miles — a mile a week — to raise funds for New Forest For Ukraine (NFFU), continuing his steadfast support for Ukrainian families affected by the ongoing war.
50-MILE SWIM CHALLENGE 2026
Julian has previously completed Swimathons for the charity in 2023 and 2025, explains his 2026 challenge.
“This is a fresh approach to my fundraising. I try to make every stroke a thought or prayer for displaced, suffering Ukrainian families,” he says.
Having already completed 8 miles, Juls plans to continue his swimming both in the pool and when the weather improves, in the sea just 400 metres from his home in Selsey.
While family and friends have generously supported his previous Swimathons, Juls is now hoping to throw the fundraising net farther afield. The remarkable octogenarian is hoping to attract sponsorship and donations from companies and individuals and is also inviting others to undertake the challenge. Anyone who would like to join Juls can contact him on 07721 532711
Mandy, Lead Trustee for NFFU “The war in Ukraine has now entered its fifth year. The need for support on the ground has never been greater. Jul’s amazing swimming challenge for 2026 will not only raise valuable funds but hopefully help us keep the plight of the Ukrainian people in the spotlight.”
