Story
I am taking on the Thames Bridges Trek this September – a 25km walk across 16 iconic London bridges, all to raise funds for the Arthur Rank Hospice Charity.
I will be doing it in memory of my father, who at the age of 47 was diagnosed with Motor Neuron Disease, commonly known as MND.
It is a progressive neurological disorder where motor neurons degenerate and die, leading to muscle weakness, paralysis, and eventual respiratory failure.
My family and I had no choice but to learn as we went along, and face whatever was ahead. In 2020, I joined the Arthur Rank Hospice and discovered how much can be offered to patients and their families so that they are not alone on this journey.
I wish that my father had been able to access the amazing services that the hospice offers including specialist palliative care in the community, the living well service, and peer support, and eventually have a peaceful death on the inpatient unit.
Help me raise funds for the Arthur Rank Hospice Charity so that the holistic specialist palliative care services could be available to more patients and their families.
Thank you
Aneta
