Story
In March 2020, we got the worst possible news that my Dad Paul Linger was diagnosed with terminal pancreatic cancer. After a complex 10 hour ‘whipple procedure’ operation, months and months of aggressive chemotherapy and so much fight he lost his battle on October 1st 2021. During the latter stages, Dad was taken into care by St Joseph’s Hospice and from that day until his last every member of staff was nothing short of phenomenal. The care provided not only to my Dad but me and my family in terms of bereavement options was first class. I can’t thank the hospice enough for making what was the toughest time of our families life, as comforting as possible.
On February 1st 2023, I will begin to complete a 5k (run or walk due to my knee injury) every day for 365 days. During this time I will also attempt to visit as many places as possible which affiliate and remind us all of Dad for example The Valley, Charlton Athletic’s ground is a particular location of note where Dad played a lot of his football career.
This challenge is going to be very tough for me personally as those that know me will know I’m not a runner or very fit but I’m hoping with all of your support and hopefully donations also, this will spur me on to complete this challenge for Dad and the hospice. Thank you everyone😊🙏🏻❤️
