My Granddaughter Emmy, Grand niece, Thea and Grand nephew, Casey were all born with severe or profound hearing loss. They were all born to hearing parents as are 90% of deaf children. The hearing loss progressed rapidly to require Cochlear Implants. Luckily all 3 operations went well and all 3 children are now thriving. The local branch (ECDCS) of the National Deaf Children's Society were there to help navigate through appointments, technology, sign language, education statements and just a shoulder to cry on. They do amazing work and without them a frightening time for the family would have been so much worse. We can't thank them enough.
