Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.This is my twelfth fundraising campaign (we've raised over £59,000 together MA, you AMAZING people) and it's just as important as ever for me to ensure the money I ask you to donate is fully spent on those in need. As always I've thought about which charity I should support this year and after more research and discussion about the needs in Syria, I have decided to work on another project with Hand In Hand For Aid Development.

A HUGE thanks to everyone who donated and helped me raise over £13,000 to support severely malnourished children and families in Syria last year. In total we managed to help 20 malnourished children. THANK YOU! 

This year, in 2023, with your support, we will buy 20 large tents to house 20 families of four people in Syria, in North Idlib / Jenderis / Afreen.

There are 6.2 million people, including 2.5 million children, displaced WITHIN Syria - the biggest internally displaced population in the world. The pace of displacement is relentless. Millions live in tents, fragile shelters with no basic facilities, they have insufficient space and they provide no protection.

Each winter extreme flooding in Syria causes damage to tents forcing families to flee their shelters and this year they lost absolutely everything ONCE AGAIN due to the earthquakes. You will have seen the heartbreaking footage.

By donating a fully kitted out tent you will be more than gifting a temporary home, you'll be giving hope.

Here is the breakdown of costs per tent:

1- Tent: £245

2- Blankets: £8 x 4 = £32

3- Mattresses: £14 x 4 = £56

4- Tarpaulin (nylon to protect tents): £14

5- Cooked meal: £5

Total = £352

You can donate whatever you can afford or a tent with mattresses and blankets for £352 for a family of four, if you wish to.

Here are the facts about the charity:

1. They are a charity that works from within Syria and employs approximately 550 Syrians who know the region and their people to provide direct and effective support. 

"Their teams inside Syria assess, plan, prioritise and implement projects to help the most vulnerable in the community based solely on need. The majority of their staff, trustees and consultants are Syrian. These large, local teams live inside Syria and understand the needs and complex, ever-changing contexts in which they work."

2. They have a 100% donations policy and I have been assured that any admin fee is covered by the volunteers themselves and the Gift Aid they reclaim on donations.

3. The work they do is incredible. From emergency relief, medical aid, building hospitals, setting up schools to community empowerment - they take a holistic view in caring for Syrians.
