"The mountain calls you back."

These were the farewell words of our especial guide, after we summited Mount Kilimanjaro in 2023 with our father and in memory of our mother. There have proved no truer words, as we have since summited Mount Teide and Mount Toubkal, each time seeking to be a little closer to Ammu above. Now, we find ourselves seeking the same on Mount Everest, and hope to ascend upto its Base Camp on 6th Oct 2025 after an 8-day trek.

Although this is a private tour, we also see the challenge as an opportunity to raise awareness and funds for Haematology Cancer Care at UCLH in sadaqah jariyah ('continuous, everlasting and flowing charity') on behalf of our beloved late mother. The wonderful Haematology team at UCLH helped Ammu fight her 26 month brutal but brave battle with acute myeloid leukaemia, and allowed us to at least still have her down here for that precious time. We shall always be grateful for their world-class expertise and perpetual compassion from beginning to end.

In life, Ammu was the epitome of kindness, selflessness and charity, and she truly lit up the lives of those around her. After life, Ammu will continue to be so and do so, thanks to any kind contributions to such sadaqah jariyah. We therefore gain solace and strength through our mother's example, knowing that her light and legacy will continue to inspire and guide our charitable efforts and indeed our lives.
