🔺 Salam Gaza Update 🔺 :
🟡 Our partner is establishing our operations in Egypt this week and coordinating with UN agencies and other INGOs who are also preparing their emergency response in Egypt
🟡 We are monitoring the situation closely regarding the opening of the Rafah crossing, liaising with our teams in Gaza regularly.
🟡 This week, we are establishing procurement and transport links in Egypt so that we can respond the moment we have a safe transport corridor.
🟡 Our partner is going to procure urgently needed items based on the list of essential drugs, disposables, and equipment which the health services in Gaza shared last week. The situation in the health system will have inevitably worsened since that list was shared.
🟡 Our funds will contribute towards the procurement of items from this list once the priority has been determined. It will also contribute towards their transport and storage until the time that they can safely be taken into Gaza.
We will be responding to the current emergency in Gaza, where hospitals are struggling to cope with an influx of serious injuries. The already dire humanitarian situation in Gaza is worsening, as already struggling civilians in one of the most densely populated places on Earth, once more face the horror of major airstrikes. Power plants have run out of fuel which means Gaza is without electricity making it even more difficult to respond to those who need us the most.

After a needs assessment, we realised that the greatest need in Gaza is to support the hospitals with supplies. The Palestinian Minister of Health said that hospitals in Gaza are “working beyond their capacity to treat the wounded as a result of the occupation’s aggression, and as a result the hospitals in the Strip are out of service”. We will work closely alongside our partners on the ground to supply to prepare our humanitarian response and support as many hospitals as possible.
Salam Charity is working with a partner called Medical Aid for Paletinians (MAP). Palestine have a Central Drug Store (CDS) that provide medicine and medical supplies to all the hospitals in Gaza and West bank.
Major relief agencies like WHO provide the medicine to the CDS, and MAP are one of the biggest suppliers of the CDS.
MAP have depleted all their warehouses and your donations are urgently restocking the warehouse so that the CDS can continue providing the medicine.
