Story
Hi, my name is Aalijah, and I’m 7 years old.
This is my sister, Laiyla.
Laiyla was born blind because her optic nerve never developed. But when I look at my sister, I don’t see her blindness… I see a girl who is brave, strong, funny and amazing.
Every day, Laiyla teaches me what courage really means. She does things that can be difficult for her, but she never lets that stop her.
So I’ve decided to do something for her.
From the 1st of September, I’m going to walk 1 mile every day for 31 days.
I’m doing this because I want Laiyla to know just how much I admire her.
Every step I take will be for my sister.
Every mile will be a reminder that she is strong.
And every day, I’ll be showing her that she can achieve anything she puts her mind to.
Her blindness is part of her story, but it does not define her.
I’m raising money , to help support blind and partially sighted children and their families, so children like Laiyla can have the support, opportunities and confidence to live their lives to the fullest.
I’m only 7, but I know one thing for sure…
My sister may not be able to see the world, but she has shown me how to see it differently.
So please help me walk my 31 miles for Laiyla.
31 days. 31 miles. One amazing sister. ❤️
