Story
Thriller in the Villa is a fun event for the Island’s community, providing a platform for local fundraising. The annual event, sees local volunteers embrace the challenge of stepping into the Boxing Ring raising funds for their chosen charity in the Villa Marina's Royal Hall, Douglas, Isle of Man.
"The reason I am doing Thriller is because I want to challenge myself, it is something completely new to me but I would like to push myself out of my comfort zone."
"The Forget Me Not charity is close to my heart. I have family who are suffering or have suffered from Dementia, and it affects so many families. I want to raise as much money as I can to make a difference for those individuals and families who are enduring the hardships of dementia and the difficult situations it brings."
FORGET ME NOT - CHARITY NO. 1254 - OBJECTIVE
Forget Me Not was formed in August 2018, with a mission to improve the support available for people living with dementia and their families in the Isle of Man.
Our charity funds the provision of the Admiral Nurse service, supported by Dementia UK and hosted by Hospice Isle of Man.
Admiral Nurses are nurses with experience in dementia care who work collaboratively with families and with other dementia care providers, sharing their expertise and giving them the support and skills needed.
Admiral Nurses work alongside people with dementia, and their families: giving them one-to-one support, expert guidance and practical solutions. The unique dementia expertise and experience an Admiral Nurse brings is a lifeline – it helps families to live more positively with dementia in the present and to face the challenges of tomorrow with more confidence and less fear.
