Our story

Hoxton Islah is situated in the heart of central London and serves not only the local Muslim community of Hoxton and Old Street but Muslims of the wider community of London and beyond. Every week, Muslims from all over attend and use our premises for prayer, educational, social and spiritual purposes.

Our journey began in 2003, where a few Muslims from the locality and neighbouring locality started off using a basement of a mini-cab office once a week for weekly Dawah & reminder circles. Within a short while the entire premises was acquired and our activities extended to daily prayers, jumuah, taraweeh, children’s maktab, etc. We then moved to bigger premises in 2009, and have remained here till date (our current premises), continuing to serve the Muslim community.

This Campaign

After 16 years, we are pleased to announce that we have received access to the adjacent basements of Hoxton Islah with the view of expanding our premises. This expansion is expected to double the current space we have downstairs and help with the growing demands of our community for daily Salaah, Jumuah prayers, children’s Maktab, Ramadaan/Taraweeh, etc.

This campaign is to help us raise £150,000 to complete Hoxton Islah's expansion project. This is the estimated cost for the entire project from start to finish, which includes:

- Site preparation

- Architect's fees (planning, building regulations & project consultation)

- Structural Engineer's fees

- Council's fees (planning and building regulations)

- Contractor's fees for the required construction work

- Finishing (sound system upgrade, carpet, etc)
