South Coast Challenge 2024 · 7 September 2024 ·

We are a volunteer charity supporting world-leading prostate cancer research at University of Surrey and first class treatment at the NHS Stokes Centre for Urology at the Royal Surrey County Hospital. We provide support to sufferers & promote awareness for men aged 50+ to get a PSA blood test.

Story

We are the Oncology research team at The University of Surrey. We are taking part in the South Coast 57K Ultrachallenge to raise money for our amazing local charity The Prostate Project who work tirelessly to support the oncology research we do in the lab. Their support goes towards research projects looking at developing novel prostate cancer vaccines/immunotherapies, understanding racial disparities in prostate cancer outcomes and the development of novel anti-androgen targeting drugs.

As around 40% of cancers could be prevented by adopting healthy lifestyles what better way to promote this message by setting a good example ourselves! We have been training hard, taking advantage of the beautiful countryside Surrey has to offer in preparation for the real challenge - an Eastbourne start, up Beachy Head, the magnificent Seven Sisters, and along the South Downs Way, to our finish in Brighton.
