Hello my name is Abbie,
On the 26th April 2024 myself ( who is not a camper or a ‘walker’ ) and a few others will be camping, walking up and around snowdonia for the weekend. To raise money for a charity that’s close to my heart due to my history of domestic violence I suffered.
I am a domestic abuse survivor, I have come such a long way since then with me an my two boys! My perfect little family! I will never forget what I went through and I know what so many other people go through daily still with an abusive partner/significant other! I wouldn’t be here today with out the support I have had and still have I am very lucky in that sense.
When my boys started at their primary school I met an amazing lady! Founder of landlark this amazing charity that vision is to help to create a world in which no one lives in fear for their physical, emotional or mental safety.
They believe domestic abuse, sexual violence and harassment in all its forms, will never go away unless our community takes collective responsibility. So, they work with the entire community to achieve our aims.
They are investing in projects to change the narrative, create safe spaces and campaign for change.
A key way of addressing the epidemic of violence against women, sexual violence and harassment is through education: working with young people to give them the tools they need to challenge and change the narrative themselves, passing on knowledge to their peers, their family members and creating a legacy of change that will keep on going.
Landlark provides much-needed funding to run educational courses in schools, like Healthy Relationships in schools facilitated by the amazing charity, Tender - using drama and the arts to equip young people with the tools they need to recognise relationships which may become abusive, coercive and controlling.
