Abbie's 5K swim for the Alzheimer's Society

Abbie Llewelyn is raising money for Alzheimer's Society

Marathon Swims Half Marathon Challenge · 8 November 2025 ·

At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.

Story

Hello everyone! I’m raising money for the Alzheimer’s Society as I prepare to swim 5K on 8th November at the London Aquatics Centre.

Swimming 5K is 100 lengths of an Olympic-sized (50m) pool and is estimated to be the equivalent of a half-marathon in running terms.

The Alzheimer’s Society is the UK’s leading dementia charity, giving vital support to those who need it and funding groundbreaking research. This is a cause close to my heart as both my grandmothers suffered from dementia.

Every donation, no matter how small, can help support those whose lives are forever changed by this heartbreaking disease, as well as enable research into the cause, cure, care and prevention.
