Story

Thankyou for visiting my just giving page.

In September, I plan on running Stafford 10k in memory of my dad who passed away on Nov 10th 2024.

For those of you who didn't know my dad. He was kind, loving and the most stubborn man on the planet, he adored his family and would help anyone. He loved to go fishing (just not with Heidi as she talked to much), tatting in his shed and garden or working on his old ford escort aka banger b.

In 2017 my dad was diagnosed with a rare, stubborn from of myositis. Myositis is a type of autoimmune disease where his immune system attacked his muscles causing them to waste away. He underwent lots of treatments, many forms of medication and had weekly physiotherapy sessions to help with his muscle strength. Sadly his form of myositis wasn't curable and the medication wasn't working. After 6 years of fighting this disease it started to affect his ability to walk, eat and drink and also his heart started to fail. The last 18months of my Dad's life were very difficult. He ended up being admitted to hospital multiple times and was unable to leave the family home other than for hospital treatments where he needed a wheelchair and had to be lifted in and out of it by his family. He was a very proud man and this was very difficult on him.

After 15 months of grief, I finally felt strong enough and wanted to do something to remember my Dad by. Whilst running I think alot about my dad whilst I'm out and about, 1.How proud he would be of me but also 2.How much he'd be calling me an idiot and think I was going to kill myself off.

If you've got to this point then thankyou very much. Any donations big or small are very much appreciated. Anything to help this charity and hopefully help stop people going through the horrible journey my dad did with this disease.

Thankyou.x
