Story
Hi, everyone — thank you for being here.
I’m Abbie Sumners, and I’ve been running half-marathons since 2013. What started as a personal challenge became something much deeper in 2016, when my baby sister, Ami Sumners Pearson, passed away from cancer.
Since then, I run in her honor. #irun4ami
On June 27, 2026, I will run my 13th Half Marathon — my Golden 13 — in the breathtaking beauty of Glacier National Park. Thirteen races. Ten years without Ami. One race that carries them all.
But this one is different.
This year, I’m running as a Charity Bib runner to raise $1,500 for Early Partners, a nonprofit early childhood education organization in New Orleans that is deeply meaningful to me.
Why Early Partners?
I have served on the Board of Early Partners since 2023, and its mission continually inspires me:
To prepare all children to meet or exceed developmental milestones before kindergarten, to build a lifelong love of learning, and to unlock the limitless bounds of human potential in early childhood.
Early childhood is where everything begins.
Confidence. Curiosity. Resilience. Belief in oneself.
When we invest in children at the earliest stages of life, we change the trajectory of their future.
Ami believed in people fiercely. She believed in potential. She believed in showing up for others. Running for Early Partners feels like an extension of her heart.
To earn my spot at the starting line, I must raise $1,500 by June 14, 2026.
When you donate:
You give to Wander Project (the official charity partner).
After I complete the race, Wander Project grants those funds directly to Early Partners.
Your gift helps ensure children in New Orleans enter kindergarten ready to thrive.
When I cross that finish line in Glacier, I will be carrying:
Ami’s memory
Your generosity
And the future of children who deserve every opportunity
Will you help me get there?
Mahalo for being part of this journey.
With gratitude,
Abbie
