Story

Hi everyone! I am running the Great North Run in 2025, I have decided to aid blood cancer UK in remembrance of my previous partner Dominic Middlemas who sadly passed away in July 2022. Dominic had a type of blood cancer since he was diagnosed in 2016 at 17 years old, he fought a lot of battles within life but sadly his life ended far too soon, this was not the fault but it was something he fought day in and out.

The next day after Dominic passed my Uncle Paul who didn’t have blood cancer but suffered brain cancer for around 20 months after multiple surgeries to try remove the cancer it eventually became incurable which then he was placed into end of life care.

I’ve decided to do the Great North Run not only in aid of blood cancer but to also help my self get back into a routine as after this happened our hearts were shattered, it broke us all. For my self, it was and still is the worst thing I have experienced. I would love nothing more than to donate towards this charity to hopefully one day save someone’s life.

Since 1960, we've invested over £500 million in blood cancer research, transforming treatments and saving lives. Right now, our community is funding 360 researchers and staff across the UK who are searching for the next breakthrough. The day we will beat blood cancer is now in sight and the researchers are determined to finish the job.”
