On 8th October I will be running the Royal Parks Half Marathon 2023 for Bookmark - an incredible charity with wonderful, altruistic staff and volunteers! Let's support Bookmark teach and support children develop their reading skills... and embark on some fantastical literary adventures!

Before the pandemic, more than one in four children left primary school unable to read well. Now, disadvantaged children are leaving school an entire year behind their non-disadvantaged peers.

Poor literacy can have a devastating impact on a child's life. They're more likely to be unemployed, live in poverty, have poor health and health behaviours, and lower life expectancy as a result.

Bookmark wants every child to develop the reading skills, confidence and enjoyment of reading that they need for a fair chance in life.
